Patricia Island Event - 08/21/2010 |
|
|
It was an amazing day at the Patricia Island this past weekend. The golf course was in perfect condition and the scores were some of the lowest we’ve had all year. I had no idea
that there was such a jewel in Grove, Oklahoma. Everyone agreed that it was well worth the trip. Kevin Hendry was our lucky tour member who won the Tulsa Drillers Suite Night next Tuesday.
I would also like to welcome Tom Felder and Kenneth Eisele to the tour.
The Scorelow merit points may be wrapping up, but I would like to offer everyone an opportunity to win a free entry into the year-end tour championship at Cherokee Hills. I will raffle
off one free entry into the championship at our last event before the Tour Championship. Entry into the tour championship will be $270 for the Alpha Flight, and $220 for the rest of the
flights. So, you may purchase a raffle ticket between now and then for $5 or 5 raffle tickets for $20. If you win the raffle and you’re the year-end flight winner, you will receive the
entry in cash!

Alpha Flight
Tour veteran Joe Deere found out quick about how tough the Alpha Flight really is and shot an 83. It was great seeing Patrick Churchwell make the trip as he shot a steady 74 and finished third. We had two players shoot red numbers, but Daniel Dorman outlasted Kacey Threet by shooting a 3-under 69, and Kacey shot an equally impressive 70.
- 1st Daniel Dorman - Trophy, $200 cash

Bravo Flight
I had the opportunity to play with Dell, Carl, and Randy, and had a great time. Thank you for taking it easy on me. Dell Wilson literally started the day one leg behind.
Disregarding Doctors orders, Dell decided to play and still beat me by one stroke with a broken leg and shot 80 on the day. Carl Crenshaw stuck around for a little while in the
scoring, but it came clear that it was Randy Colliers’ day. Carl shot 78 as Randy shot a smooth 75.
- 1st Randy Collier - Trophy, $40, and a bottle Canadian Mist

Charlie Flight
With Richard Popplewell in first place in the Scorelow points, Paul DeAngelis took full advantage of Richard’s absence. Paul fired an 80 as he beat me by one stroke.
Paul even tried to intimidate me by hitting a 3-wood three hundred yards into our group on the final hole! Great Job Paul, and see you in Myrtle Beach!
- 1st Paul Deangelis - Trophy, $40
Skins
- Kacey Threet - $27
- Daniel Dorman - $27
- Carl Crenshaw - $27

Delta Flight
What an amazing day in the Delta Flight! Three Strokes separated first place and last place. Dale Boyd from Owasso, Oklahoma book ended birdies to finish with an 84 and finish third
on the day. Scott Lutz also from Owasso was able to shoot one stroke better on the front to secure second place. Tour Veteran Craig Malcolm shot an impressive 39 on the front nine, and
picked up his first victory of year with an 82. It was Craig’s best tournament score thus far! Great Job Craig.
- 1st Craig Malcolm - Trophy, $80 cash
- 2nd Scott Lutz - Canadian Mist
- 3rd Dale Boyd - Dozen Golf Balls

Echo Flight
Newcomer Kenneth Eisele came out for his rookie event and had a great time with Tom Felder and Craig Malcolm, but the day belonged to two time champion Mike
Gibson after shooting 86, and increasing his lead over Wade Boswell in Scorelow points.
- 1st Mike Gibson - Trophy, $30 cash

Foxtrot Flight
And at the end of the day, there would be a playoff. Paul Harvey and Shane Wilson both looked at me as they tallied up the totals, and said, “WE TIED.” I could tell that Paul was just
sick after a 5 putt on the 17th hole. So, the whole gang and I went to the first tee and watched the playoff unfold. First up, Shane crushes one down the middle, the tension was thick
and then Paul Harvey crushes one, but a little right and he would have to take a drop. Shane would go on to par the hole and take home his second victory of the year.
- 1st Shane Wilson - $40, Canadian Mist
- 2nd Paul Harvey - Dozen golf Balls
Skins
- Tom Felder - $10

I want to thank everyone for braving the extremely hot weather on Sunday, however the High temperatures produced some low scores. Tom Wolfe and his staff were a huge help
getting the course in great shape considering the record highs for the week. Our next event will be at Patricia Island Golf Club in Grove, Oklahoma on Grand Lake. This course
gets rave reviews every year and is always a player’s favorite. The tournament will be on a Saturday, and I will email everyone room rates if they would like to stay and
visit the casino.

Alpha Flight
WOW, says it all when I look at the scores from the Alpha Flight! Three strokes separate first and last place. Ryan Grimm and Ben Harris fired 71’s on the day and came up a few
strokes out of the money. Chad Lafevers who shot his best round of the year, tied newcomer Terence Begnel with a one-under 70 finished in second place. Mr. Austin Hannah who has
now won three events in three tries shot an impressive 2-under to take home the championship.

Mr. Dell Wilson picked up his second victory of the season with a 75. He was four shots down to Randy Collier heading into the back nine, but then fired a 35 on the back to nip Randy Collier by one stroke. Dell had three of his four birdies on the back nine. Echo Flight
Our Echo Flight ended up in a two way tie for first place between Wade Boswell and Mike Gibson. Since it was 100 degrees outside the players decided to do a coin flip to settle the despite rather to have a scorecard playoff or play extra holes. Heads it was and we went to the scorecard. It took going back to the 8th hole to find a victor. Wade would prevail after scoring a par on the 14th hole.

Foxtrot Flight

John Emhoolah would fire an impressive 93 to win his first tournament of the year and he picked a great event to win as he walked away with a brand new Nike tour logo’d golf bag. I want to thank everyone for participating in the Peoria Ridge Challenge. Peoria Ridge Golf Course was in the best shape of any course we've played thus
far on tour. Keith Neel and his staff pulled out all the stops to welcome us to Miami,Ok. I know now why the Hooters Tour makes Peoria Ridge an annual stop on
their schedule. It was also great to see everyone at Buffalo Run Casino on Saturday Night and hopefully everyone was able to have a good time without losing
too much money. I know a few of the players made out very well even though they stayed out late to do it.

Alpha Flight
Jeff Warden and Kacey Threet both participated in the Hooters Tour event a few weeks ago and knew the course very well. Jeff Warden made the cut by shooting
4 under after two days of competition, but this week would be a little different. This weekend belonged to Kacey Threet after shooting 75-75 and a two day
total of 150, he would walk away with the Championship. Jeff did make a good run at it after shooting 80 the first day by shooting 76 on Sunday.

Bravo Flight
Overall, the Bravo Flight had the closest competition this weekend. After the first day we had Chris Miller in the front by shooting 77, and not far behind was newcomer Terry Allyn and then we had Dell Wilson and Carl Crenshaw both firing 80 on Saturday. All four players would be paired together for the final round. Terry Allyn fired a 45 on the front and eliminated himself from the fight, Carl and Dell were still tied on the front nine and Chris Miller was still clinging to a two shot lead heading to the back. Chris let a few shots slip by and Carl was as cool as cucumbers. After Carl birdied 12, he knew it was his tournament to lose and Dell would have to birdie 18 to apply pressure. Carl would prevail by shooting 80-74. Dell would finish second by firing 80-76, and Chris would finish 3rd by shooting 77-80. Great Job Gentleman!
- 1st Carl Crenshaw - Nike Golf Bag, $100
- 2nd Dell Wilson - $50, Bridgestone Golf Balls, Canadian Mist

Charlie Flight
Paul Deangelis came to this event with fire in his eye and someone was going to have to take this one away from him. Paul came out and fired a 79 on Saturday and newcomer Nick Gillespie was hot on his trail after firing an 80 and an awsome 33 on the back and providing us with the only eagle of the tournament. Gus Russell also made a fine showing by shooting an 82, just a few strokes back. In the end, Paul would run away with it by shooting an 84 on Sunday and capturing his second victory this year.
- 1st Paul Deangelis - Nike Golf Bag, $50
- 2nd Gus Russell - $50, Canadian Mist, Bridgestone Golf Balls

Delta Flight
Brent Miller came out for his second event with us and after taking care of business in the Echo Flight, the Delta Flight was no different. Brent fired and impressive 82-82 to win the Delta Flight. Richard Popplewell has been anything other than consistant on tour and after firing 86-80 he claimed second place. Dale Boyd and Kevin Hendry shot about as well as they have shot all year long, but came up a little short and finishing 3rd and 4th.
- 1st Brent Miller - $50, Nike Golf Bag
- 2nd Richard Popplewell - $50, Canadian Mist, Bridgestone Golf Balls

Echo Flight
Nate Neel made the most of his Twin Peaks debut by firing an impressive 87 on the first day and followed that up with an 89 to capture the
championship in the Echo Flight. Coming in second place was tour veteran Mike Gibson by firing 90-93.
- 1st Nate Neel - Twin Peaks Nike Golf Bag

Foxtrot Flight
Our Foxtrot Flight had 10 participants making it the largest flight for the weekend. Tour veteran Eric Numbers would hold the overnite lead by shooting a tour best 93. Joe "three card poker" Garrett would have to sleep on second place by firing 94. Jason Montalvo was only four strokes back with a 97. Paul Harvey, Paul Nonan, and John Emhoolah were all looming for fourth place. Joe Garrett had a rough front nine and would have to settle for third place as it would be a two man race. It was neck and neck for Jason and Eric, as they both stood on the 10th tee. Jason would take par on 10 and Eric has a heartbreaking 12, which put Jason in the drivers seat. They would finish with Jason in front, Eric four strokes back and Joe would finish third. Paul Harvey would finish fourth, and John Emhoolah would wrap up 5th. Great Shooting Gentleman.
- 1st Jason Montalvo - Twin Peaks Nike Golf Bag, $150
- 2nd Eric Numbers - Canadian Mist, $120
